The Panther softball team has started the season scoring lots of runs in few innings. After short gaming Wethersfield on Saturday the Panthers once again scored double digits and short gamed their opponent beating Stark County 12-1 on Monday.

Panthers Open In Style

After missing their first three regular season games due to poor field conditions, the Lady Panthers were ready to get after it, and unfortunately for the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans they were on the receiving end of a pent up offensive explosion. The Panthers broke the game open with a 10 run third inning enroute to a 12-0 five inning win.

Panther pitcher Bekha Steele threw a 2 hit shutout, striking out 10. Ashley Davis and EricaThulen each has 3 RBI's for the Panthers.

Jessica Woodworth, Calissa Steel, Dena Johnson, Davis, and Ryan each had two hits on the day. Davis also had a homerun for the Panthers.

The Panthers will host Stark County on Monday..

EP Middle School wrestler Jase Grunder brought home the 6th place medal at the Illinois Elementary School Association's State Wrestling Finals on Saturday.

Photos- Grunder Off To State Finals

EP Panther middle school wrestler Jase Grunder will travel to Dekalb, Illinois today to participate in the Illinois Elementary School Association's state wrestling finals. Grunder, a 6th grader from Prophetstown, has a 34-1 record this season and claimed the sectional title last weekend in the 60# division.

Grunder was given a send off from his fellow classmates and teachers at the PLT Middle School on Friday morning.

By winning the sectional he receives a first round bye in the 24 man field. Grunder is making the trip with his wrestling partner Nick Smith and his coaches Tom Unruh, Jimmy Greenlee, and Nate Swanson.

Two other EP wrestlers qualified as alternates by finishing 4th at the sectional. Brody Grimes, 275#, and Elijah Friedrichsen, 215#. The tournament runs through Saturday.
